Depression afflicts over 300 million people around the world (WHO, 2017).

If you know someone who suffers from depression ,
YOU can be of help:
- Be there for them and show support by visits, calls and messages. Kind persistence is crucial.
- Listen with compassion avoiding comments that invalidate the experience, and avoid comparisons as each person's experience is unique.
- Be thoughtful when giving suggestions  - the person suffering from depression is usually fully aware and wishes life was different.
- Invite them to engage in healthy activities  like going together for walks.
- Pray for them and pray with them if they desire.
- Offer to help with household duties or cook healthy meals for them.

Encourage them to seek professional help .

Be patient - recovery from depression can be slow.
